Sarasota, FL — In a proud moment for the local community, the City of Sarasota has officially declared August 19, 2024, as “Sarasota Paradise Day” in recognition of the Sarasota Paradise soccer team’s remarkable achievement in winning the South Florida Division title. This historic honor was celebrated at a special ceremony where the City Commission acknowledged the team’s season and South Florida Division Championship.
“Now therefore The city commission of the city of Sarasota and on behalf of the citizens of our community takes great pride in recognizing August 19, 2024 as Sarasota Paradise day!” announced a city official during the event.
The Sarasota Paradise team, led by owner and founder Marcus Walfridson, has been key in creating a strong soccer culture in the area. Walfridson, visibly moved by the recognition, expressed his gratitude to the city and its residents for their amazing support. “Thank you to the City of Sarasota for your unwavering support to bring pro soccer to Paradise. The ceremony also highlighted the contributions of head coach Mirko Dakovic, whose coaching has been pivotal in guiding the team to success. Under Dakovic’s guidance, the Sarasota Paradise not only secured the South Florida Division title but also earned the opportunity to represent Sarasota in the national playoffs.
